Judy’s Back!

If you happen to get to NYC sometime in the near future, I suggest you check out End of the Rainbow.  It’s a play, with music about the last months of Judy Garland’s life.  I have not yet had the opportunity to see this smashing show, but have read nothing but amazing reviews about it and the performance of the star, Tracie Bennett.  Here is a little snippet of the opening night festivities.

If you are a theater person, I would also check out the revival of Evita, starring Ricky Martin as Che.  Finally, if you want a high-powered, all-star cast; go check out the revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, starring Angela Lansbury, Candice Bergen, James Earl Jones, Eric McCormack and John Laroquette, to name just a few.  There are more stars in this production than there are in the sky.

Angela Lansbury now starring in "The Best Man" on Broadway.

There are two new musicals that are creating a lot of buzz out there this season, they are shoe-ins for the Best Musical category when it comes time to Tony nominations.  The first is Newsies, based on the Disney movie of the same name.  The other is Once, also based on a movie about an Irish and Czech musicians who fall in love.
